Aquarium of the Pacific with Madeline

This is my cousin Madeline.











Her beautiful Mom is my Aunt Jacquie!






On Saturday, we met up at the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA for a day of exploring! Together, we discovered some very interesting underwater creatures! Like the West Coast Sea Nettle jellyfish!

Did you know that jellyfish are not actually fish? The word jellyfish is used to describe several different kinds of cnidarians, all of which have a basic body structure that resembles an umbrella.

Madeline enjoyed petting the tops of the Comb jellyfish. They do not sting so they were safe to touch. They felt smooth like the top of a mushroom cap.

The giant spider crab span can grow up to 12 feet and weigh up to 41 lbs!

There was a really cool stingray that let the kids rub its soft, furry back and slick underbelly. Aunt Jacquie and I got to pet it, too.

Madeline's favorite books are books about Dinosaurs!


I sure had fun with my family. Madeline is such a wonderful little girl!

LA Zoo with Ely and Giacomo

What a beautiful day!

I went with my good friend Liz to the LA Zoo in California. Her sons Ely and Giacomo had so much fun exploring the caves and petting the goats.

Isn’t the flamingo such a pretty color?

They even had a rhinoceros that looked like a modern day dinosaur!

Giacomo and Ely's favorite book is The Adventures of Frog and Toad.

Dil in Bali, Indonesia!

I met Dil in Bali, Indonesia. He was living there with his Mom for some time, so he had learned lots of Indonesian words and phrases like Thank you (“Makasih”) and Good! (“bagus”) and he even taught me how to count to ten in Indonesian!While I was there, Dil, his mom and I went to visit a volcano! I took this picture of him at the foot of the volcano.

He was so much fun, wore lots of cool costumes, and got along with all of the local kids.



His favorite food is chicken and rice. Bagus!



And his favorite book? The Wizard of Oz!

As I share stories of the strange and beautiful places I've seen, I will also be writing about the wonderful children that have filled my life with so much joy!
